Coast-to-coast bike trail traversing North Malekula crossing the ‘Dog’s Neck”.

For keen mountain bikers and adventure-seekers this is a rewarding independent day trip cycling across the “Neck of the Dog” and a guided waterfall walk in North Malekula. From Lakatoro on the East Coast, the 12.5 kilometer cycle trail follows the road gradually climbing up to around 200 meters; then it’s an undulating ride across the plateau passing through local villages and gardens before a short and steep descent down to the cove at Losinwei. Your cycling efforts are rewarded by a lunch at Dram-Dram Bungalows, followed by a guided walk up the natural limestone cascades of the Losinwei River and a swim in the bush ‘spa’ pools before biking back to Lakatoro.

Itinerary:

  • Morning: Bike ride from Lakatoro to Losinwei
  • Lunch at Dram-Dram Bungalows
  • Afternoon: Guided walk and swim up the Losinwei Waterfall
  • Return bike ride to Lakatoro

PRICE:
5,500 VT per person (min 2 /maximum 6)

Price includes bike hire, lunch, entrance fee and a guided tour of the waterfall.

Health/Fitness Requirements: This adventure requires a good level of fitness for cycling and walking. On the guided waterfall walk there are many river crossings, slippery boulders and some climbing. Bring sturdy reef shoes for climbing the waterfall. This adventure is not suited for children under 8 years.

Please Note: The cycle section is unguided and therefore you will need to be self-reliant. Distance: Bike ride is approximately 25 kilometers return to Lakatoro.
